ALL ABOUT TWIG HOUSE ART…
With a background in early childhood education- opening and running a childcare center- and time spent as an independent collage artist, it wasn’t long before Twig House Art’s creator, Nic Simonson, heard the siren call of opening a children’s art studio!
“Each child should be handed their own, special moment in which they can feel empowered and proud. From asking a child what color we add next, to letting them choose what medium we’ll explore that day- my hope is that each Twig House Art kid can feel a sense of ownership over the time we spend together.” -Nic Simonson, Twig House Art’s Creator
Twig House Art was created with the hopes to be regarded as a comfortable and engaging space for children that doubles as the best environment to navigate through the tricky ways of building a new skill! From learning new, art focused vocabulary, to color exploration, to carefree use of supplies (too chaotic for frequent use at home!) Twig House Art is a soft landing in the overwhelming world of skill based creativity. Built on the philosophy of building children up with inclusion and offering them secure moments where they are invited to contribute to the group- even our most sensitive young friends will find themselves at home with warm instructors who work to remove the more intimidating pieces of being in a new place, making new friends, and learning new skills.
The art lessons at Twig House will have a soft emphasis on collage and color theory and focus on introducing a wealth of new craft mediums. From using new and unusual utensils to paint and color mix with the younger kids, to resin pouring, print making, and basic sketching with older students- Twig House will use these activities to build an awareness of the seven elements of art, an appreciation of art history, and knowledge of a diverse collection of notable artists.
We do hope you come and join us!
